The original leader of the Changed was killed by a rogue former company z soldier named Hagens who had bitter feelings towards Bram and humans after their abandoning her during the Siege when lots of mindless zombies attacked the city and the army was told to dispatch all zombies. Those of you familiar with my blog know that the Romance genre is one that I normally do not read or review. Which, I guess, leads me to my last and final complaint because I found the relationship between the two main protagonists to be Nora and her savior, the young zombie soldier Bram Griswold, fell hopelessly in love. With two awesome zombie novels out there, I do hope she writes more.

She mostly hangs out with Michael talking about his plans. In a funny way, that offered me some reassurance.

With that I started this book. The United States no longer exists; Britain and numerous other countries have also perished as nature evicted humanity, forcing survivors to band together into tribes and relocate closer to the equator. This is what killed this book.

She’s able to make me hate some and love others, her characters are still so varied and distinct that it makes it easy to follow along with who you are reading about. I picked this up solely because it was a zombie novel gotta love zombies but then I was thrown into bekoved odd dystopian society and THEN it transformed into this weird steampunk society where everything is Dearly, Departed was kindly provided to me by Netgalley for Random House Publishing Group.

Everything is thrown into chaos more than once for her, and yet she really manages to keep her head through it all. Now Nora herself is immensely valuable to all of them, both sides of this hidden zombie war.

With explanations out of the way, Habel seemed free to actually pump the novel full of action and excitement – something I greatly enjoyed.

View all 6 comments. I give a glowing recommendation to this series! It isn’t working out all that well. I did like some of the characters, especially a feisty zombie uabel Chas. What do you need? Here we have a novel that was so incredibly witty, fun, dark, dire, and heroic that I would be silly not to fall in love with it. And as much as I love, love, LOVE that there is such an adorable and non-stigmatized way for a woman to signal belovee she’s a lesbian in New Victoria, the aforementioned fundamentalists would be a lot less open-minded.

This series and book is extremely complicated, so I will try my best on this synopsis… Nora and Bram know that everything is stacked against them: They tried to attack the people attending them, and they were shot in the head.

The plot is addictive, the characters well-rounded. She knows how to shoot a rifle!
